Afrigator Tweets on Twitter – quick update
by Stii
If you follow Afrigator on Twitter (and if you don’t you should!), you would know that we tweet a blog post from African blogs once an hour. In the past, all we did was to take one random post the last 24 hours and spit it out. The problem with this was that it was usually not necessarily an interesting post. We’ve always had it on the cards to change it a little, but it was low down on the priority list, so guess when that would have been done!
Yesterday Bill Zimmerman raised the issue that he didn’t like that! So, thanks to Bill, we changed it a little. What we do now is we track posts that are being clicked through on Afrigator. We only count unique clicks to try and prevent “system gaming” and that should give us a little better results. I’ve done a check and so far so good. The quality of posts in future to be tweeted looks a whole lot better!
Thanks Bill!

Interesting:) I just joined Afrigator on twitter this morning.
Brilliant, thanks fromtheold! Please give us feedback in a couple of day’s time… we’d love to know if it is working okay or if we need to rework it a little more.
Good work Stii, the signal-to-noise ratio is much higher now. Sounds like you implemented an intelligent ‘audience engagement’ filter ala Postrank. Keep it up.
Sorry to be a nag. :)
Thx Bill. On the contrary! If people don’t raise these issues, we tend to think they’re not issues… ;) We really appreciate it mate!
I actually stopped following Afrigator because I felt that the stories where, well, a bit random. Glad you made this clever little update. Will give it another try ;)
Thanx Rhett. Please do give us feedback!
