Mob rules – Taxi protest in Cape Town

Another quite intimidating experience was bestowed upon me today. The taxi drivers we’re protesting in Cape Town today due to some Bus Rapid Transit system that government wants to introduce before 2010. They’re unhappy that busses gets preference to them or something. There has been reports of motorists that has been stoned.
What a noisy bunch! It almost looked like fun if only it wasn’t so aggressive. Some of these guys were on the roofs with stones making as if they are going to throw some passer-by’s. Quite amazing how they stand together and protest when things aren’t going their way. One have to admire that! Almost like the bloggers around the QVC (Quality Vacation Club) incident, only bigger and better.

Your callous attitude in this post is quite unbecoming. People were injured and their cars damaged by people who are protesting something that will directly affect their livelihood. I don’t say their actions are justifiable, but discussing it in such a callous manner doesn’t make you look any better.
Oh blind. It isn’t callous. I think I took my grumpy pills this morning.
mm – busy watching from the civic centre… we are locked in as the protestors are now on foot – I believe trying to get in to my building….

@Darb No, not callous at all. I saw on news24 they said no-one was injured. Do you know of people that were?
