Nissan.co.za got hacked…
by Stii
I’m out on a car hunt and quite fancy the Nissan X-Trail. I went to the Nissan South Africa website to locate the dealer in Cape Town, but their search function doesn’t work. When I select Western Cape, type in Cape Town and hit search, it finds nothing. After trying various combos I thought I’ll leave all search criteria blank and hit the search button.
It worked! Only, not quite as expected… Every dealer has the name:
Hacked by m0sted and DrakuLa İsrael and usa stop No War
Here is a screen shot:

I wanted to notify Nissan, but oddly enough, the only contact details for Nissan was the dealers. Which are coincidentally all called m0sted and DrakuLa. Hmmm. They better do something as I have a strong suspicion that this might only be the beginning of something worse to come. Oh, and Nissan, at least put some contact form or head office phone number or email address on your site so we can notify you in cases like these.
What was even more weird was that when I went to whois.co.za to find some form of contact, I saw that the technical contact was Netmaster from Infovan. Cool, let me go to www.infovan.co.za. ACK! This is what’s on the Infovan site… very strange…

Anyways, all good, emailed the addresses found on whois.co.za and if they have not responded by tomorrow I’ll give them a tinkle.
If you want to check for yourself, here is what you do:
- Go to: http://www.nissan.co.za/buying_dealers.asp
- in the left hand column, don’t make any selections or enter any criteria
- hit enter…
Oi, that’s terrible! Glad I don’t work in their IT dept!
Okay, the email address for the Nissan contact on whois.co.za returned:
This is an automatically generated Delivery Status Notification.
Delivery to the following recipients failed.
I’m trying…
Jeanette, that would make two of us! Sheesh, if only they had some webmaster contact number/email one could notify them, but they thought better it seems! Poor guys, I hope this don’t get any worse.
I see the site has now vanished entirely. Maybe they saw it was hacked.
I have been hacked before, not a pretty site – excuse the pun, lets hope they have been doing back ups!
True, Seags, it ain’t a pretty site at all!
Evl, I think you might have entered it as http://nissan.co.za You need to add the www. That is just plain lame anyway! Have they not been notified that www is deprecated? http://no-www.org/
Found a number of the Nissan Contact Centre. Will call them in the morning.
Lol, you are correct. So used to sites that work with no www
There is an acronym for that… LAS
ROFL!!!
Nice find Stii :)
Thanx Chris.
I phoned the Nissan Contact Centre, but the IT dude was unavailable so I left him a message. The poor switchboard girl sounded bewildered, so I hope she delivers the correct message so they can fix it. I have my doubts, but you never know!
I am still surprised that they have not realised themselves – unless they have and now they are frantic…Do they not get any queries from the website that have not suddenly stopped working?
Update: Its been fixed. My message was delivered and immediate action was taken. Good for Nissan!
NEVER ANOTHER NISSAN
18th, July, 2009
Dear sir I’m writing a complain about FEDNISSAN BETHLEHEM, 37 CHURCH STREET, BETHLEHEM 9700. I am extremely upset and agitated by the “service” from Nissan
I have taken my Nissan Almera( 2001 MODEL, REG NO CLM 892) for repair on the 13th, July, 2009. Job request was to replace MICRO BELT,BELT COMPRESSOR and PULLY ASSEY. I was told to receive the car on 15th, July, 2009.
When I went to the FEDNISSAN I was told again to come next day on the 16th July, 2009. On the 16th when I went to fetch my car I was told to come next day on the 17th because they did not receive any part yet.
On the 17th July 2009 my employer (MMTV, BETHLEHEM) phone to FEDNISSAN BETHLEHEM and the reply was *** we did not receive any part (Nissan factories doesn’t have the part) for the car. And we were told to contact FEDNISSAN BETHLEHEM on the 20th July, 2009. This totally disappointed me.
I’m Nissan fan and my family is Nissan fan. I never had problem with my car. But if we do not get good service from the authorized service centre why should we buy Nissan motor vehicle? We pay for the service and we expect good service.
This is very upsetting – I have been without transport to work. I missed a lot of time at work and as yet I have not heard one apology even. I specifically took the car to Nissan as I do not trust any other “unknown mechanics” but it seems I was wrong in doing that. I cannot begin to explain how upset I am. It seems I am being taken for a ride, if you have any advice I’d appreciate it.
The question is where is the so called ‘Feel good’ feeling one is supposed to have when buying a “New vehicle?” The other question is what happened to good “Customer Service?”
To you my request please check the matter and take an action.
Your urgent assistance in this matter is highly appreciated
Yours truly,
MM HOSSAIN
