Hi, very interesting to see all these comments. Just googled A1 Personnel for a friend, because I lost their contact details, and found this page by mistake.

I was placed at Absa last week by A1 Personnel, and that while Absa is busy reducing staff.

Funny to see these comments.

I think they are great, that’s why I’m recommending them to my friend.

I offcourse also send my details to them, and no worry.

You guys are unneccessarily concerned.

Contact Tyler at their offices, her service is great.

We receive many many scam jobs vacancies with fax 0866590609 from A1 Personnel Services. This has been going on and on foe a very long time now and we just ignore these bloody suckers.
0866590609 is a scam ladies and gentlemen becareful.

Hi, I am also one of the dump suckers! I receive hundreds of these types of mails every day and know be now not to respond to these things. But as mentioned I did. I see that most replies stated that this is not used for identity fraud but the 086 numbers generates money for every page send, is this correct. And if not, does anybody know what to do to make sure that my identity is save or is there a site to check these types of things?

I’ve been one of the unlucky ones who have faxed my details after receiving a mail back like the ones stated above. I may have used the fax numbers above. Being a jobseeker one gets so desperate and don’t look at the fine print. Thanks for the warning. Now how does one go about finding out if our identity has been used?

The funny part is they always respond at night.These people must be found
serious.Its really not funny.They are trying to mess with our lives.

Hello Folks, I read your comments with horror – I nearly faxed my cv thru – but I was thinking to myself – why would they email me to fax them – is it a scam whereby the fax service was splitting the call costs with the agencies?.. So I had drafted a fax to send them telling them I prefer to email my cv thru as a pdf.
Anyway – please folks be alert.

I think we are all making a mistake by trying to identify these scamsters and go to all this trouble to find out if they are legit or not.

It is actually very easy to tell. If the company is asking you to fax your CV and other documents to them on an 0866 xxxx number, then they are very likely only in it for the money they make off of this 0866 number. Just don’t do it.

Any respectable recruitment agency would prefer you to email them your CV. It is a higher quality than a fax and therefore easier to read. They will only ask you to fax a copy if YOU don’t have access to email.

So the bottom line is don’t waste your money faxing to these guys. It is a scam.

Also, why are we not all putting pressure on these 0866 fax to email service providers to stop doing business with those who we can prove are just scamming the public?

The best way to identify these “scam recruiters” is to check their email signatures. If it doesn’t show the following details then you know it’s a scam:
Persons Name – not easy to verify.
Persons Designation – not easy to verify.
Company Name – you can check on the Cipro website if they’re registered and legit – you just need the company name and Cupro will give you all the possible matches that are registered.
Email Address – send a test email to the address requiring further info and if you don’t get a reply then you know it’s a dud…you may even be lucky and get an “undelivered” message back because the email address doesn’t exist – this is a valuable warning.
Website Address – check out their website to see if they have a physical address or more contact details – most legit businesses will.
Telephone Number – phone the number and ask to speak to the person who sent you the email. If the number doesn’t exist or the person on the other end has no clue what you’re talking about – then you know!
Fax Number – as mentioned in this post – 086 fax numbers are free and any “joe soap” can get one of these!

It’s very rare the a scamster will go to all the trouble and expense of actually registering a domain name specific to their company name in order to receive emails and to validate their website is actually valid. Also, you will notice that the job adverts only have a fax number for you to contact them and the email address it came says “noreply@xxxxx.com” – the reason they do this is to make sure there is no electronic way to track them legally – most of the 086 fax numbers are free and can be obtained by anyone for any purpose.

A friend of mine is a recruiter who advertises on bestjobs.co.za and because so many candidates lie on their cv’s they usually request all the information up front to pre-screen and do employment verifications, credit checks, criminal checks and qualification verifications. You’d be surprised how many people lie about their working history and qualifications and it’s pointless to call someone in for an interview and go through the process of the interview and skills tests when it turns out they lied and actually can’t do the job they’re applying for. Remember guys, the coin always has two sides so check the information out carefully before branding, what could be a valid recruitment company.
