Since we’ve moved to Cape Town, we’ve been located slap bang in the middle of the city bowl. We were happy and enjoyed most of it. The traffic was a BITCH, but hey… one of those things.

Today we moved to new offices. Very trendy, modern offices. For some inexplicable reason they placed us slap bang in the middle of the offices. I think they will realise their mistake sooner rather than later… For one, I bugger up their dress code something terribly! We’re not the quiet type. Nor do we sit still in one place for longer than a couple of minutes. We don’t really mind all of that in all honesty! :P We’ll see how our colleagues cope in due time…

We were all quite skeptical about the move since we enjoyed being in town. I must admit, it is quite enjoyable out here! Lunch was fantastic. Beautiful view of Table Mountain, not one being spoiled by Telkom. Closer to home. MUCH less traffic! Closer to the beach and the surf… Yes, this could work for me!

I don’t have pictures yet, although I’m sure Justin or Lester would have something soon! Please just take note that our details changed. Here is the new details: http://blog.afrigator.com/contact-afrigator/ Please pop in and come say hello if you are in the area. There is a Vida e Caffe right next to us :)

    Nissan.co.za got hacked...

I’m out on a car hunt and quite fancy the Nissan X-Trail. I went to the Nissan South Africa website to locate the dealer in Cape Town, but their search function doesn’t work. When I select Western Cape, type in Cape Town and hit search, it finds nothing. After trying various combos I thought I’ll leave all search criteria blank and hit the search button.

It worked! Only, not quite as expected… Every dealer has the name:

Hacked by m0sted and DrakuLa İsrael and usa stop No War

    Here is a screen shot:

I wanted to notify Nissan, but oddly enough, the only contact details for Nissan was the dealers. Which are coincidentally all called m0sted and DrakuLa. Hmmm. They better do something as I have a strong suspicion that this might only be the beginning of something worse to come. Oh, and Nissan, at least put some contact form or head office phone number or email address on your site so we can notify you in cases like these.

What was even more weird was that when I went to whois.co.za to find some form of contact, I saw that the technical contact was Netmaster from Infovan. Cool, let me go to http://www.infovan.co.za. ACK! This is what’s on the Infovan site… very strange…

Anyways, all good, emailed the addresses found on whois.co.za and if they have not responded by tomorrow I’ll give them a tinkle.

If you want to check for yourself, here is what you do:

    1. Go to: http://www.nissan.co.za/buying_dealers.asp
    2. in the left hand column, don’t make any selections or enter any criteria
    3. hit enter…

I'm Back... oh and Happy 2009!

Had such a fantastic holiday! Truly amazing. I should feel refreshed and ready to take on the world, but in fact I’m not. I now need a holiday away from my holiday and THEN we can start looking at work again. I suppose all good things are supposed to come to an end right? Right. Then I’ll simply start hitting the ground running!

Only problem is that I’m not too sure where I’ve stopped! Oh joy :P So it seems like I’ll have a slow start today. That is a good thing. Ease back into the swing of things. If only it wasn’t such a perfect Cape Town day today! That and the fact that its a Monday.

Anyways, I hope everyone will have a fantastic 2009. I’m planning to have one. May your wildest dreams come true and all those other clichés we exchange every single beginning of every year. It didn’t exactly work out for me that way last year, but I sure got much more I bargained for! So there. As long as you enjoy it, that’s all that matters. Good Times!

Mob rules - Taxi protest in Cape Town

Another quite intimidating experience was bestowed upon me today. The taxi drivers we’re protesting in Cape Town today due to some Bus Rapid Transit system that government wants to introduce before 2010. They’re unhappy that busses gets preference to them or something. There has been reports of motorists that has been stoned.

What a noisy bunch! It almost looked like fun if only it wasn’t so aggressive. Some of these guys were on the roofs with stones making as if they are going to throw some passer-by’s. Quite amazing how they stand together and protest when things aren’t going their way. One have to admire that! Almost like the bloggers around the QVC (Quality Vacation Club) incident, only bigger and better.

Here are some photos we took:

    Bus burns in Cape Town

I just had the fright of my life! With all the bomb scares doing the rounds in Cape Town, I’m pretty edgy. Moments ago, we just heard a BIG bang and initially, everyone thought it was a bomb that went off. Turns out it was actually something in the engine of a City Liner bus that went bang and the next moment, this happened:

Fortunately, it seems, no one was injured! More images and video to follow soon.

Another Bomb Scare in Cape Town

NedbankThis morning the entire section in front of the Nedbank building in Heerengracht street was cordoned off due to an alleged bomb scare.

Now, I’m not sure if it is just because I’m more tuned in due to the fact that I’m now living in Cape Town or if there is actually an uptake in bomb scares, but it does not seem normal! I often hear on the news about bomb scares and this must have been the 5th scare I’m aware of in the past two months. Earlier this month Jason Bagley tweeted about a bomb scare at the Somerset Mall. Whats up with that? Capetonians, is this normal?

Thankfully, it was only empty threats by the look of things. As @fearsumm said, “banks foreclosing on people is enough to push some over the edge i suppose”. Scary thought that!
