Neil deGrasse Tyson was born on October 5th, 1958 to Cyril and Sunchita Tyson in Manhatten New York. He married Alice Young in 1988. He has 2 children, Miranda and Travis. He grew up to be an Astrophysisist, / author /science communicator. A science communicator is someone who talks about science. Whether it’s by book, or by tv show and in this case he did both. His science shows include Cosmos, Star Talk, Nova Science Now ,The Universe, and more. Also he was a voice actor in Ice Age so that’s cool. He wrote a lot of books and he’s still writing more so I’m just going tell you his most highly recommended one which Is Astrophysics For People in a Hurry. It’s just what the title sounds like. It’s a book for ifyou want to learn about space, but don’t have time. He studied at Harvard University, and Columbia University and earned his doctorate in Astrophysics in 1991. Since 1996, he has been the Frederick P. Rose Director of the Hayden Planetarium at the Rose Center for Earth and Space in New York City. That’s only 5 years after he graduated. He wanted to do this because of Isaac Newton, Albert Einstein, Carl Sagan, and Richard Feynman. And those scientist helped make him become the writer and scientist we know and love today.. Also he was a Germatologist for the U.S. Department of Health and Education and Welfare. His most recent award is Goodreads Choice Awards Best Science in 2017. Other awards include the Medal of Excellence, and the Isaac Asimov Award. Needless to say, he’s earned a lot of amazing awards in his time.Neil deGrasse Tyson was an inspiration to young minds. WIth his movies, tv shows, and books he inspired a lot of people. He is the 2nd best known science communicator next to, we all know him, Bill Nye the Science Guy. These two have made an impact on youth all over the world. Personally though I would prefer Bill Nye but only because I haven’t watched any of Neil’s shows. The two men are actually friends in the real world. Neil deGrasse Tyson, from what I did research on ,didn’t really struggle too Badly by doing research. From what I can assume though the biggest struggle he had was his age. When he got his job as Director of the Hayden Planetarium at the Rose Center, he was only in his 30’s. That’s still pretty young. Also in college he went for 15 to 20 years he must have been with all people in their early 20’s.. Tyson was one of the main people to discover Pluto was no longer a planet. When I figured it out I almost quit this assignment because I’ve always been really interested in the solar system. My favorite thing I learned about Neil was that he does voice overs for one of the Ice Age movies.
