In this paper I am going to mention about Globalization Methods and the Impact on Translation. The term globalization has different meanings to different people. However, it is believed that the idea rests on the integration of economic, political, and cultural systems across the globe. The thing that makes globalization is build on mix of economic, sociocultural, political and technological forces. The purpose of this article is to argue about the impact of globalization on language translation services. “The Localization Industry Standards Association (LISA) defines globalization as follows: Globalization addresses the business issues associated with taking a product global. In the globalization of high tech products this involves integrating localization throughout a company, after proper internationalization and product design, as well as marketing, sales, and support in the world market.” Although this is a proper definition, we may not always face with globalization in this context. In another words, product(mentioned above) can be piece of translation due to the demand for high quality and high speed translation which also allows it to be classified as product.Satisfying these requests can increase the cost for translators and translation service providers. Like everything in the universe, the dynamics of translation gets stuck in this part. If the work is required to be fast and also high quality it has to cost more, the book says. These dynamics has changed recently as there are new players that adds unique notions to this process. Computer Assisted Translation tools enhances the quality, reduces the time required for the operation which inevitably results in saving costs. Among these tools, translation memory (TM) increases translation productivity by archiving previous translations and offering them on the present translations where some criterias matches.(defined by the admin)Translation memory is a database of many languages of texts which are stored side by side in segments of both source and target text. Upon catching accordance with the set criteria, the segment can be retrieved from translation memory. The target text is first divided into segments and stored in translation memory. These stored segments are available for future use in new translation projects. If the segments stored in translation memory are perfectly matched(%100) or similar to the new source text, translation memory offers previous translations to the translator. The translator can decide to accept or deny these offered translations. This aspect of the globalization can be summarized as technologies reducing the cost of communication in the industry of translation which would sound like witchcraft in the past or to the old translators due to its revolutionary benefits. Now let’s take a look on how exactly being productive and cost efficient helps us in another perspective. In general, globalization is an active process that takes place every day. Due to the process of globalization, language translation services have seen huge rise in demand. The development in translation services has brought people and their cultures together. There are not any examples of alienation present in the globalized world. It is because translation services connects everybody with each other. With the help of translation service providers, cultures have become tolerant and easy-going towards new cultures and opinions. They are even following fashion trends. Today traveling to a new place has become more fun than ever as people now have ability to learn their language instantly before landing there. With the combination of globalization and translation, the world has become a multifaced, rich, and very interesting place to explore. Other than daily life, in professional fields globalization is a must to be competitive in any industry because the one would be more interested to spend his time in a website if he/she feels comfortable. This comfort can be provided through using globalization methods.
