In depth, Porter’s Generic Strategy (2001) could
distinctly identify the competitive advantage of ChildrenSalon.  Porter’s generic strategy focuses on product
differentiation, low cost leadership, focus on market niche and strengthening
customer and supplier relationship. Product differentiation uses information
system generates new products or services and rise customers expectations by
improving or changing its products and services. Low-cost leadership uses
information system to achieve the lower operational costs and lowest prices. Focus
on Market Niche uses information system to analyze customer buying patterns, tastes
and preferences so that they can create new advertisements and marketing
campaigns to smaller and smaller markets. Finally reinforcing customer and
supplier relationship is used when information system increase the cost of substituting
from one product to competing products.
